Award Winning Design
This system has been designed to be an environmentally sound and sustainable solution that offsets household greenhouse gas emissions and allows residential home owners to get one step closer to a carbon neutral house.
The system can prioritise renewable energy sources over non-renewable energy sources to ensure minimal energy wastage. The prioritisation of renewable energy sources like solar power reduces the energy costs associated with domestic hot water and other heating related utility bills.
The Solamander system won the Regional Award for Innovation through the NSW Business Chamber and was also recognised as a Finalist for the Innovation Award through Architecture & Design Sustainability Awards.

Features & Benefits
Efficient use of renewables
Incorporates domestic heating needs
Lowers running costs
Lowers carbon emissions
Able to prioritise renewable energy sources first followed by the non-renewable energy sources if required. Also prioritises hot temperatures for domestic hot water and radiator heating over floor heating which requires lower temperatures for effective operation.
High temperatures for DHW and radiators first
Low temperatures for floor heating
Renewable choices: i.e. Solar and Wet Back
Non-renewable choices: i.e. Heat Pump over Gas Boiler
Algorithms control the entire system, which enables customised configurations
All components are managed by the controller. It can be connected to a home automation system allowing the end user to change modes and setup heating times through their home automation system. Please note that a home automation system is not, required.
Can be configured for individual installations.
Heat Sources: Solar, Wet Back, Heat Pump, Gas Boiler
Buffer Storage: Tank, Floor Heating

Top 6 Reasons to Install the Solamander ® Hydronic Energy Hub
Solamander is an integrated and innovative energy solution that prioritises renewable energy sources for a variety of energy uses in your home.
These are the top 6 reasons why we love it:
Number 6 – The Solamander Hydronic Hub (aka the “Hub”) achieves an optimum and pleasant indoor environment with comfort heating on demand throughout the year.
Number 5 – The system uses energy to heat up radiators, hydronic floor heating, domestic hot water and pool heating.
Number 4 – The prioritisation of renewable energy sources like solar power reduces the energy costs associated with domestic hot water and other heating related utility bills.
Number 3 – The Hydronic Energy Hub has been designated to be an environmentally sound and sustainable solution that offsets household greenhouse gas emissions.
Number 2 – The “Hub” can prioritise renewable energy sources (solar panels/wetbacks) over non-renewable energy sources (gas boilers/heat pumps) to ensure minimal energy wastage.
Number 1 – The Hydronic Energy Hub reduce your carbon footprint and get one step closer to a carbon neutral home!
This is a sustainable all-in-one system that’s simple in concept, yet sophisticated in performance.

A Variety of Energy Uses & Energy Sources
Renewable vs Non-Renewable
The Hydronic Energy Hub is an integrated solution that uses multiple renewable energy sources (solar and/or wetbacks) and non-renewable energy sources (electricity and/or gas) for a variety of energy uses and heating purposes.
All energy sources and uses must be configured on the controller appropriately to system requirements.
Energy Uses – For domestic heating
Domestic Hot Water (DHW) – Delivered via a buffer storage tank with a heat exchange coil to transfer energy to the water in the tank
Pool/Spa Heating – Delivered via a titanium plate heat exchanger to the pool and/or spa. A heat dump (for energy that cannot be used or stored) is required for the system in the instance that a swimming pool is not available
Hydronic Radiator Heating – Appropriate feed pipe system and zone controls required.
Hydronic Floor Heating – Appropriate feed pipe and manifold systems with zone controls required. Our partner brands including Danfoss controls and Rehau pipe are recommended, however, other systems can be used provided they are configured appropriately.
Direct Action – All space heating in this system (radiator and floor heating) is achieved via direct action with energy coming directly from a heat pump or gas boiler rather than by indirect energy transfer. This direct action minimises energy losses and in the case where solar gain is available while heating is demanded, the system uses this free energy to pre-heat the boiler or heat pump, thereby reducing its energy consumption.
Buffer Floor Heating – A designated floor area acts as a heat storage in a similar way to the buffer water tank. Once the DHW tank is full to its thermal capacity, excess renewable energy is delivered to this buffer floor heating area and stored there for ongoing heating needs.
Optimal solar or wet back harvesting – The system uses special flow regulating valves that can deliver water at a high, pre-defined temperature from the solar panels or wet back. As the solar panels heat up the water flow is increased through the panels maintaining a constant temperature of 75°C into the system. This means a steady flow of energy that always has a high utility valve. * Can be adjusted via the controller within set limits.
Prioritisation of Heat Uses – The system prioritises the use of high temperature water for DHW & Radiator heating over hydronic floor which requires lower temperatures for effective operation.

Hub Dimensions & Mounting
The Solamander® hub has been designed for simple installation. The hub piping is attached to an Alupanel sheet that comes in two pieces for easy installation and transportation.
Pre-drilled holes are located in each corner of the hub to allow for roofing screws should it be mounted to timber. Dynabolts are available if mounting the hub to a concrete or brick surface. The hub is connected using 20mm unions located at the top and bottom of the back panel.
Suggested mounting locations include the plant room walls/ceilings, garage walls/ceilings and external walls. If boxing in the hub with joinery, then access needs to be provided for maintenance purposes, which could be through a screw removable cover.
The Hydronic Energy Hub Controller
The Solamander® Hydronic Energy Hub has a unique controller programming logic with patent algorithms. This controller offers exceptional versatility and functionality of the entire system and each of its energy sources and uses.
The Hydronic Energy Hub Controller is designed specifically for the Solamander®system and it enables the installer and end user to configure their system as they wish, to meet their particular requirements. The one controller can readily handle a multitude of combinations!
The intelligent Hydronic Energy Hub Controller allows the system to prioritise energy sources and optimise renewable over non-renewable sources. It is highly customisable and can ensure a change in priorities if energy costs change.
